Been delaying this post due to the holiday season. Hope you enjoyed the festive season as much as I did. I had way too much fun soaking the sun (with sunscreen protection of course) with my family at the beach.
As promised, I will continue the Simple as 1,2,3 Skincare series. This post is focused mainly on the dry skin people out there. Many people think dry skin is always associated with the elderly. However, it is not. Every person has different type of skin and dry skin can occur to anyone of any age.
Some also believe that it is easier to manage dry skin as opposed to oily skin and that it is way better. This is also a misconception because it needs as much care any other skin types out there. On the contrary, I believe dry skin might even need more care because it more prone to having wrinkles and sunspots.
3 key things to remember for all the people who has dry skin: –
1. Keep Hydrated
I can’t stress this enough. It is so important to keep hydrated. Not only the surface of your skin but also from within. You should aim to drink sufficient water throughout the day to keep your body and skin hydrated.
I recommend using the cream below to lock in the moisture throughout the day.
Clinique Moisture Surge is gel-based, and its best feature is that it continues to hydrate your skin even after cleansing, living up to its name – lasting 72 hours of hydration.
This can be purchased from Clinique store in Myer or from Sephora for $60.00.
Bonus: You can also spray this mist over your face whenever you feel you need a quick hydration boost when you are out and about. It is small enough to fit in your hand bag 😊
I always carry this whenever go out during winter, when my skin feels dry and tight. Instant hydration to your tight skin with 1-2 pumps.
You can purchase this Estee Lauder Micro Essence Mist from Myer for $90.00
2. UV Protection
This is a given for everyone to include this into your daily routine, especially for someone who lives in Australia, where the climate is always dry and sunny. As mentioned above, you are more prone to developing sunspots if you have dry skin. So, you should always apply sunscreen before you head out.
I always use sunscreen that is at least SPF 50+++, which lasts 8 hours. For you girls who wears like makeup, I recommend my favourite 2 in 1 sunscreen – Diorsnow Brightening Fresh CC Creme. It is a CC cream with high enough SPF to protect you while looking flawless 😉
In case you are wondering which shade I use, I use 010 since I am of the lighter tone. You can purchase this from Myer or David Jones for $95.00.
Dry skin usually has lots of dead skin piling up on the surface making your skin looks dull. To remove the dullness and build up of dead skin, try exfoliating your skin more regularly. However, you should check with your dermatologist on how often you need to exfoliate if you have sensitive skin. You would not want to have any allergy reaction or breakouts from over exfoliating!
The one I am recommending is trending right now. It is not your regular exfoliator. It is a single use cotton pad that is already soaked with essential solution, which helps to remove dead skin yet leaving your skin hydrated.
You can purchase Go-To Exfoliating Swipeys from Go To Skincare for $46.00.
